TÜV SÜD opens new Vietnam testing lab

TÜV SÜD has opened a new state-of-the-art electrical and electronics testing facility in the Vietnamese capital Ho Chi Minh City.

The testing and certification specialist said the new site was inaugurated following a 12-month construction phase. The 330 square-meter lab will offer a comprehensive range of testing and certification solutions across the electrical and electronics sector, the company said.

The new facility, which will be operated by TÜV SÜD, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German company, will focus on testing luminaries, home appliances, IT equipment, weatherproof products up to IP67 and other electric components.

The facility will take over from the company’s previous site in the Tan Phu District of the city. The lab inauguration was attended by Dr Josefine Wallat, the head of the German consulate in Vietnam, and TÜV SÜD CEO Dr Johannes Bussmann.

Bussmann said: “We have been investing in people and technology in Vietnam for over 15 years. Our investment in this state-of-the-art laboratory for electrical safety and performance further establishes our commitment to consumer safety and is a testament to Vietnam’s growth story in becoming a global sourcing hub.

This new lab further complements our existing network of facilities across Vietnam and ASEAN, and reinforces TÜV SÜD’s global position as a market leader in the area of safety, quality, sustainability and compliance for electronic products.”
