Cameroon selects TÜV to vet imported products

Cameroon has appointed the testing, inspection and certification (TIC) company TÜV Rheinland to conduct testing of products – including electronics – to the West African nation.

The Agence des Normes et de la Qualité (ANOR), the government agency which oversees product assessment in Cameroon, appointed TÜV Rheinland as a conformity assessment body in the country.

The appointment permits TÜV Rheinland to perform conformity verification, inspection and certification processes for export shipments and regulated products to Cameroon.

"The appointment in Cameroon is an important step for us in our commitment to ensure product quality and safety in Africa, an important market targeted by many global exporters," said Fares Naouri, senior vice president of government inspections and international trade at TÜV Rheinland.

As an authorized conformity assessment body, TÜV Rheinland said it will support the government of Cameroon in the process of conducting conformity assessments in the exporting countries prior to shipment to Cameroon.

Once a product has passed the conformity assessment process it will receive the Attestation of Conformity (AoC) from TÜV Rheinland. Equipped with the AoC, manufacturers can apply for the Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from ANOR, which will allow smooth access to the Cameroon market.

As well as Cameroon, TÜV Rheinland already provides conformity assessment services in various African countries including Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Morocco, Tanzania and Uganda.
