OptoFidelity presents its new performance tester for head-mounted displays

In this video, OptoFidelity, a provider of robot assisted testing and measurement solutions for touch displays, virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs), augmented reality (AR) near eye displays, infotainments, and refurbished smartphones, presents the Buddy – the company’s latest performance tester for AR/VR and mixed reality HMDs.

OptoFidelity Buddy undertakes both performance testing and calibration in R&D and manufacturing lines. It comes with an integrated vision module and 3 degrees of freedom, which ensures the best HMD performance, including motion-to-photon latency, content stability and pose-drifting.

The system is based on non-intrusive measurement comparing the changes in the virtual world to the robotics. Measurement performance is produced by OptoFidelity’s proprietary vision module and robotics platform, which enable repeatability, time synchronization and position-based triggering.

Buddy can also measure audio-to-video synchronization and so-called motion-to-audio-latency for spatial audio. All the frames from the HMD can be saved for later analysis up to 120Hz (or higher with smaller resolution/FOV).
