DXOMARK unpacks USB-C compatibility issues

Benchmarking firm DXOMARK offers a helpful video explainer for adapting to recent EU law changes requiring USB-C ports on smartphones.

DXOMARK battery evaluation engineer and project lead Jia Yu breaks down some of the confusion around USB Type-C and compatibility issues among different smartphones and chargers.

EU lawmakers voted last year to make USB-C ports mandatory for a whole range of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and headphones.

The law will come into effect in 2024 but, as Yu points out, many smartphone users are wondering what exactly the new requirements will mean for charging speed compatibility. The explainer is part of the 'DXOMARK Decodes' video series.
