Xiaomi air purifier gains TÜV certification for allergens

Chinese consumer electronics brand Xiaomi’s latest air purifier model has been certified by TÜV Rheinland for its ability to filter out indoor allergens.

The allergy care certification was granted by the German multinational certification company to Xiaomi’s Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact, which was released on to the market last month.

The certification measures the efficiency of the product’s filter elements, purification rate of indoor allergens, and indoor environment assessment. Only products that effectively reduces or filter out indoor allergens can be issued the allergy care certification.

According to TÜV Rheinland’s testing, Xiaomi’s Smart Air Purifier 4 Series (Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro, 4, 4 Lite, and 4 Compact) proved themselves capable of filtering out common indoor allergens, including pollen, dust mites, and pet dander, thus effectively removing potential health threats from indoors.

Like other models of the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 series, the Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact has a 3-in-1 filter, comprising a primary filter, a Xiaomi high-efficiency filter, and an activated carbon filter.

The device is equipped with a PM2.5 infrared sensor which can sensitively capture fine particles as small as 2.5μm in the air. The purifier can also automatically adjust to the best purification efficiency according to changes in air quality in real time.
