The new 36,000-sq-ft facility, which replaces a nearby smaller facility, includes EMC chambers and significantly expands UL Solutions’ capacity and capabilities in China. EMC testing available at the new facility will assess products’ ability to function without causing or being susceptible to electromagnetic interference across various devices, from household appliances to high-powered industrial equipment. The new EMC chambers significantly enhance UL Solutions’ ability to handle high-power and high-current product testing — particularly for large items — and support the latest wireless technology advancements.

“With the proliferation of devices and technologies in today’s hyperconnected world, product testing is a fundamental imperative to demonstrate those devices’ safety and security,” said Todd Denison, senior vice president of Global Regions at UL Solutions. “The investment in our Songshan Lake IoT Laboratory furthers our pledge to help customers demonstrate compliance with safety and interoperability requirements here in China and for the global market.”

In addition to the EMC testing, the Songshan Lake IoT Laboratory provides a wide array of other testing services, including those that focus on wireless, telecommunications, advanced 5G New Radio and Wi-Fi technologies, as well as specialized automotive testing and IoT evaluations with cybersecurity and interoperability certifications. To address increasing demand and evolving regulations, the laboratory also offers advanced Wi-Fi 6E/7 testing systems and a USB-Type C test platform for CE Radio Equipment Directive compliance.

UL Solutions also provides connected product and wireless device testing and certification services globally at facilities in India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the UK and in California, Illinois and North Carolina in the US.
