The free webinar is taking place November 22 at 3pm GMT (4pm Central European time, 10am US eastern time) and will be hosted by UL Solutions' lead principal Angelo D'Amato.

D'Amato will offer his technical expertise to educate attendees about the European Commission’s Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED), which establishes a regulatory framework for radio equipment, setting essential requirements for safety and health, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radio spectrum efficiency.

RED, which establishes a regulatory framework for placing radio equipment on the European market, was updated in 2022. The amended directive includes Article 3.3, which includes device requirements related to specific categories of radio equipment ranging from common interfaces to cybersecurity. The new rules become mandatory in 2025, giving device manufacturers a two-year transition period.

Webinar host D'Amato is a cybersecurity expert with over a decade of experience across different sectors and international cybersecurity organizations. His main area of expertise relates to complex end-to-end cybersecurity assessments and certifications/compliance, e.g., UL 2900*, ETSI EN 303 645 and Common Criteria.

In his current role, he collaborates with IoT manufacturers, leveraging his expertise to advance cybersecurity practices and contribute to developing industry standards. In addition, he is also a member of the TIC Council (Testing Inspection and Certification) CACD Working Group related to RED DA 2022/30 and EU CRA's Proposal.
