The two testing services companies’ solution combines Rohde & Schwarz’s radio communication tester with SmartViser’s test automation application.
The solution, which is available for Android and iOS devices, will be showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 starting next week in Barcelona.
The tailored solution will allow users to test device compliance the new EU Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) label for smartphones and tablets.
The new regulation published in September last year mandates EEI labeling for smartphones and tablets sold in the EU starting from June 2025.
Annex II of the regulation specifies the energy efficiency class and EEI requirements, while Annex IV outlines the measurement and calculation methods.
SmartViser had already developed a pilot application to help customers ensure that their products comply with this regulation, featuring a repeatable and reliable test procedure that can be installed on smartphones and tablets to perform a series of user actions such as calling, browsing and streaming.
To address future test requirements, however, the two companies decided to combine their solutions.
