According to research conducted by Euromonitor from May to September last year the Plasmacluster range are among the top three brands in the world by volume sales – Euromonitor’s criteria for achieving certification.
"Sharp believes becoming a World's Leading Air Purifier Brand is earned by creating high-quality products that consumers desire,” said Peter Weedfald, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for Sharp Home Electronics Company of America. “Sharp Plasmacluster air purifiers in the United States are certified by independent laboratories including AHAM for CADR ratings and power consumption. They are also certified by California Air Resources Board (CARB) that they meet CARB's strict ozone emission standards.”
Sharp are one of a number of electronics brands that now produce air purifers, which have seen their popularity rise in recent years, in part due to consumer concerns with airborne illness like the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the concentration of some indoor pollutants are often two to five times higher than typical outdoor concentrations. The agency has recommended the use of air purifiers to help reduce airborne contaminants including viruses in a home or confined space.
