SGS opens California EMC/RF test lab

Testing, inspection and certification (TIC) company SGS has opened a new electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)/radio frequency (RF) testing laboratory in San Diego.

The California facility is an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory, meaning it can conduct testing for products aimed at markets in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.

SGS said the lab is also set up to provide over the air (OTA) and conformance testing and approvals for wireless operators. The addition of the ISO/IEC accreditation will complement these existing services to allow the lab to become “a true one-stop-shop for testing and certification, the only southern California lab to offer this,” the company said.

SGS said its global network of RF/EMC chambers offer an extended range of services including: EMC advice and guidance; pre-test capabilities; EMC pre-compliance testing; PTCRB Radiated Spurious Emissions (RSE) testing; wireless testing (RF and Protocol including GCF and PTCRB); global radio approvals and certifications; electromagnetic interference (EMI) and EMC testing; and international type approval.
