The approval means gives the SGS lab full capability for the CTIA certification test plan for wireless device OTA performance, millimeter wave test methodology.

SGS said the new approval will increase the services at the lab which already offers OTA capabilities and approval for all the major US wireless operators.

SGS said its San Diego facility is “the only OTA lab in the world approved for radiated performance testing for both 5G FR1 and FR2.”

“The test plan is not yet mandatory, but clients already supporting FR2 or planning to support it, can prepare their devices to be ready for certification once this happens,” SGS said in a statement.

CTIA Certification, which has existed for 30 years, provides a global standard for the mobile wireless industry.

SGS said its San Diego lab was one of the first CTIA Certification Authorized Test Labs in the US, since its approval in 2005.

“With our extensive global network of wireless labs, we also offer OTA radiated performance testing for several other global wireless operators and certification organizations around the world, such as PTCRB and GCF,” SGS said.
