Rohde & Schwarz breaks ground on 60M-euro tech center

Acoustic testing company Rohde & Schwarz is investing more than 60 million euros in the construction of an 18,000-square meters state-of-the-art technology and production center in Germany.

The groundbreaking for the new center in the German town of Memmingen was held this week with the building set for completion by mid-2024.

Rohde & Schwarz currently employs around 1,800 at its location in Memmingen, with the company insisting that the new investment will help bring more jobs to the region.

"Our very strong growth is driving demand for dozens of new employees, especially in development and production," said Michael Dill, plant manager in Memmingen.

According to the company, employees working in Memmingen and Teisnach manufacture most of the product range in-house, with the high degree of vertical integration helping ensure supply security “in times of stressed supply chains.”

"The construction of the new building in Memmingen underscores our strategy of in-house development and production in Germany," says Christian Leicher, president and CEO of Rohde & Schwarz.

“Our high degree of vertical integration and close proximity of development to production have always proven to be factors in our success. This approach allows us to offer our customers not only cutting-edge technology, but also a high level of security and reliability.”
