OptoFidelity signs on to AR industry alliance

Testing equipment maker OptoFidelity will be part of developing future standards for augmented reality wearable devices after joining an influential AR industry alliance.

OptoFidelity has been accepted as a member of the LaSAR Alliance, an ecosystem of companies and organizations involved in the design and manufacture of AR wearable devices like smart glasses and head-mounted displays.

“OptoFidelity is excited to be a member of LaSAR Alliance,” said Nikhil Pachhandara, chief innovation and growth officer at OptoFidelity. “We would be working closely with ecosystem and industry to define the future characterization methods and standards of AR wearables.

“The quality of headsets is a critical factor contributing to the consumer experience. OptoFidelity is dedicated to enable AR wearables to deliver a premium user experience.”

OptoFidelity provides test and metrology equipment for AR and virtual reality (VR) devices throughout the product lifecycle from R&D to mass production. Its automated test systems are used for measuring the image quality, optical and tracking performance of AR and VR devices.

“LaSAR welcomes OptoFidelity to the Alliance and looks forward to their contributions to building the solid foundation on which we can all drive the growth of augmented reality wearable devices through laser beam scanning solutions,” said Dr Bharath Rajagopalan, chair of the LaSAR Alliance and director of strategic marketing at STMicroelectronics.
