Leaked Galaxy display tests reveal ‘record brightness’

Display test results for Samsung’s new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S22 Plus and S22 Ultra, reportedly show the highest brightness level of any Samsung smartphone to date.

The test results were leaked from Samsung’s own development labs, according to a report in the industry blog, SamMobile. The results show both models achieving peak brightness of 1,750nits.

If the report is correct this means the new models’ displays not only exceed their predecessors but will be among the brightest smartphones to come to market.

According to SamMobile, the display test results, which remain unsubstantiated by Samsung, confirmed a standard brightness level, with auto-mode enabled, of 1,500nits.

The Galaxy S22 Plus has a 6.55-inch display whereas the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s panel measures 6.81 inches. Both phones are expected to be launched alongside the standard Galaxy S22 variant early next month.

According to SamMobile the S22 should be capable of reaching more than 1,300 nits of peak brightness, which puts it on a parity with the earlier Galaxy S21 (pictured above). According to a recent report in Korea’s Digital Daily, the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra, are likely come out on February 8.

Digital Daily claimed that a Samsung official confirmed the date and that the company is expected to start sending invitations for the launch event at the end of January.

The website also reported that the Galaxy S22 series phones will be available for pre-order right after the event, on February 9, with sales beginning on February 24. The products are expected to receive their first major showcase at the Mobile World Congress happening in Barcelona on February 28.
