Instrument Systems expands with Korea acquisition

South Korean display measurement systems manufacturer Kimsoptec is changing its name to Instrument Systems Korea following its recent acquisition by the German company.

Kimsoptec was bought by Instrument Systems last August in a deal that gave it a 100 percent shareholding in the Korean device maker.

Prior to the deal the two companies already had a long history of collaboration with Kimsoptec the exclusive distributor of the Instrument Systems product portfolio in Korea since 2005.

Under its new name, Instrument Systems Korea will continue to produce and sell its own products under the brand name Kimsoptec Line.

Instrument Systems CEO Dr Markus Ehbrecht will take over as CEO of the Korean subsidiary with Dr Jin Sung Kim, the founder and former owner of Kimsoptec, retained as a managing director.

Instrument Systems, a German manufacturer of high-precision spectroradiometers, cameras and display and light measurement systems, is itself a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese technology brand Konica Minolta.

The company said it has been working to augment its business in display, IR emitter and AR/VR measurement solutions in Asia for the ICT and automotive market and aims to develop these markets by obtaining new sales channels to existing major key accounts and new system integrators in Korea.
