IEC standards event held in China

The International Standardization Forum has been held in Nanjing, China with hundreds of delegates attending the global standards conference.

According to the IEC, which organized the forum, around 500 participants from international organizations, government bodies and industry sectors attended the event.

Jointly organized by the IEC national committees of China, Germany and the UK, under the auspices of IEC, ISO and ITU, the event was themed around the vision of an all-electric society.

In his opening speech, IEC chair Philippe Metzger addressed this theme, saying that a shift to a fully electric society would would help create a decarbonised environment, protecting the planet but also providing citizens with the resources and infrastructure needed to lead healthy and meaningful lives.

On the second day of the event, Metzger participated in a training session, outlining the future strategy of the IEC with a focus on an all-electric and connected Society.

Johannes Stein and Oliver Hateley, respectively representing the German and UK national committees, presented the SMART standards project, which the IEC is developing in collaboration with the ISO. The aim of the project is to createso-called SMART standards that can be processed and understood by machines.

The event was held at the IEC Promotion Centre in Nanjing.
