Honor smartphone tops DXOMARK battery rankings

French benchmarking firm DXOMARK has scored the new Honor smartphone first place for its battery in its global smartphone rankings.

The new Honor Magic5 Lite was handed a score of 152 by DXOMARK, which carries out extensive lab tests to rank phones according to criteria including audio, camera and display.

DXOMARK tested the smartphone in multiple use cases, finding that its discharge currents were very low across almost all use cases and that the phone showed excellent autonomy, especially when it came to video streaming and gaming.

The phone also performed well in DXOMARK's charging test, with a 5-minute charge with the high-speed 40W Honor SuperCharge providing 6 hours of autonomy on average.

"The HONOR Magic5 Lite reached the top of our battery ranking, with strong showings in autonomy, charging and efficiency," said DXOMARK in its review of the phone. "Its autonomy was one of the best we've tested so far with more than 3 days when used moderately. Autonomy in intense usage also was impressive at nearly 2 full days, and among the best we've seen."

According to Honor, the Magic5 Lite features an ultra-large 5100mAh battery. The ranking comes as the Chinese tech company announced the launch of the smartphone in Europe.
