Element to host webinar on UKCA mark rules

Element Materials Technology are offering an upcoming webinar to manufacturers seeking to understand the UK’s new post-Brexit conformity assessment rules.

The UK government recently extended for the second time its deadline for the implementation of its UKCA marking, a quality assurance mark to replace the EU’s CE certification scheme.

Whilst the UKCA mark can be used now, the extension means businesses can choose to use the CE mark until December 31, 2024.

There will also be an “easement” package for most existing products that are CE Marked under the EU product Directives.

In addition to referring to the new UKCA regulations on the UK declaration of conformity, manufacturers must also refer to the UK’s list of designated standards where appropriate. While there is currently little difference between the two, there will likely be greater divergence in the future.

During the webinar scheduled for Wednesday Dec 7 at 7AM US eastern standard time, Element’s expert, Simon Barrowcliff, will outline the UKCA regime and cover the following to give clarity to product manufacturers within an upcoming webinar:

  • Overview of the UK Government's “easement measures”

  • UKCA marking and importer details

  • Spares to repair, replace, and maintain

  • UKCA conformity assessments using existing EU Notified Body Certification

  • Summary of the new UKCA implementation

  • Two real-life case studies
