Element appoints new company secretary

Testing and certification company Element Materials Technology has appointed a new group general counsel and company secretary.

Trudy Cooke was appointed to the job after fulfilling a similar role at Avast PLC, an FTSE-100 global cyber security company.

As group general counsel, Cook will join Element’s operating board, with responsibility for leading the legal, insurance, governance and compliance teams and building capabilities across internal audit and risk, Element said.

She has over 25 years of experience working in PLC and private equity environments across a range of different business sectors, including over 14 years as chief operating officer at the private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners. She has also worked at Inmarsat, the satellite service provider.

Jo Wetz, CEO of Element, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Trudy into the Element family. Her multi-sector experience and counsel will be invaluable to our 9,000 colleagues around the globe as we continue to grow our corporate governance functions. Trudy’s stewardship will be vital to our success, and I look forward to working together on this journey.”

Cooke said: “It is wonderful to be joining Element as it embarks on the next chapter of its history. I am excited by the vision and ambition amongst my new colleagues and can’t wait to play my part in it.”
