CSA Group adds new laboratory at German HQ

CSA Group is expanding its European headquarters in Plattling, Germany with the addition of a new 4,600 sq m, state-of-the-art testing laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio and automotive testing.

This expansion makes the 16,900 s m European headquarters one of the largest testing laboratories for EMC in the world, enabling the testing of industrial equipment, automotive products, consumer products, appliances, lighting and medical devices.  

CSA Group is accredited as a notified body to provide testing and certification services for the European market under the following: Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMCD 2014/30/EU), Radio Equipment Directive (RED 2014/53/EU), Measurement Instruments Directive for smart meters (MID 2014/32/EU), Gas Appliance Regulation (EU) 2016/426/EU (GAR) and ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU). This investment and expansion of this laboratory is to better address European manufacturing customers’ needs. 

The new building is equipped with cutting-edge technology and offers a variety of state-of-the-art laboratories including 15 shielded rooms, 13 semi-anechoic chambers, including two 10-meter semi-anechoic chambers which allow manufacturers to perform EMC testing on large equipment up to a size of 4.2 meters wide and 4.80 meters high.
