Silvia Lai, global technical leader for regulatory and chemistry at UL Solutions, will be presenting at Chemical Watch’s two-day virtual conference, Global Chemicals Management for Electronics 2023.

Lai will talk about compliance requirements for electrical and electronic products with a growing number of chemical regulations aimed at protecting consumers and the environment.

In particular, she will address the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Chemicals Directive (EU RoHS) and the impact this regulation is having on other countries’ regulations, which tend to follow the RoHS Directive's model.

Lai will provide an overview of RoHS regulations outside Europe, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China, Japan, and California, offering tips for retailers and brands to proactively handle challenges as they navigate the complex regulatory landscape.

Lai’s presentation is titled “RoHS Around the World: Examples from Certain Countries and Future Developments,” and is taking place at 11.10 am GMT on December 7.

Chemical Watch’s virtual conference is taking place December 6 and 7 and will feature expert speakers from across the supply chain who will speak about the evolving regulatory landscape that governs the use of hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment.

The event is designed specifically for companies that manufacture, assemble, import, export, distribute and sell electronics. Those interested can register through the official event page.
