Apple 'tackle camera lens issue' with new iPhone

The development of the next iPhone has hit a snag after a top analyst claimed that some of the rear camera lenses have been suffering “coating-crack quality issues.”

The claim was made by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a Twitter post.

“My latest survey indicates one of Genius’s iPhone 14 rear lenses likely suffered from coating-crack quality issues,” Kuo said.

Kuo also claimed that Apple had brought in another supplier — Taiwan-based Largan — to help with the camera lens production, transferring “about 10 million lens orders to Largan from Genius to avoid affecting iPhone 14 shipments.”

In a follow-up tweet Kuo said he believed that the coating-crack problem “should be addressed within 1-2 months based on experience.”

He also noted that “if Genius can’t handle the issue, Largan will continue to receive more orders.”

Apple’s iPhone 14 is expected to launch in the next few months, with some analysts predicting it will hit stores by late September.
