AMD processor update 'causing CPU glitch'

A new firmware update by AMD has reportedly led to issues for PC owners using the chip maker’s Ryzen 7600X processor.

According to TechRadar, the issue is with the AGESA 1.0.0.4 firmware, with the update reportedly causing problems to the CPU of PCs.

The issue was first reported by Tom’s Hardware. While AMD pushed out the firmware update in beta via their own channels, some motherboard manufacturers failed to label it as a beta.

The problem is reportedly hitting PC owners who have a dual CCD (one active, one not) model of the 7600X, with the new firmware reportedly trying to boot the chip from the disabled CCD.

While AMD has yet to comment on the reports, Tom's Hardware said that a fix was reportedly on the way, with new firmware expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks.
